It has been exactly 100 days since my last post!

So what happened?

Examinations are finished (duh) and 4 month long summer holiday declared. :)

Took my sweet time and had a Singapore trip on June and decided to take up German lessons from July to September. Why language lessons? Cuz I didn't found an internship/job. Reason? I'm lazy :P

Also my exam results are sweet. I got 2nd Lower. Assessment week was not as awesome as last semester.

Activity 1 blows. PEF+SPF+ETD gang bang'ed with 'helpful'* RA meant we didn't finish. * He did help but haiz ... If I did correctly then say lar. Don't sabo ppl by saying you done wrong and recheck then show us the same method we did correctly earlier.

Activity 2 alright. HMT stuff really. Roasted some coffee and managed to finish in time when RA decided to grant miracles.

Activity 3 LOL. I am really sorry my team mates. If it wasn't for me we would of finish the experiment 1 hour earlier and have time to finish the calculations. Again I apologize.

Activity 4 Meh. We were good in our presentation. Pity that one particular group that went off topic. I admire his courage but remember, The "nail which sticks out will get hammered".

Assessment week over. yay~ BUT...
Geololgy test tomorrow,
Maths test next Monday,
Final exams in 3 weeks.

Damn. It's nice knowing all of you.

Joking aside. I'm not really ready for my Semester 2 examinations in May. Hell I'm not ready for my maths test coming this end of April.

Short summary : March was the same thing over and over again. Repetitiveness at is best really.

Didn't really do much really. Just played Shogun 2. SHAMEFUR DISPRAY as they would say.

Not one of my applications for internship went through. Well save for Carslberg. God bless them for giving me a non-engineering related internship offer. Obviously it was retracted in the end but still at least I know the window period in applying internships.

Also tried to participate so called events in the campus.
ChESS night - Boring
Charity Carnival - Alright
Bunkasai - Silly but fun. Also take it easy at the saucing.

I don't have much high expectations so I wasn't really disappointed at the events. But definetly all of them can be improved with better organisation.

With that here comes April. A quite one for me. Definitely the silence before the storm.

Till next time.

Calvin signing out.

P.S.
I have taken the first step to the long road of disappointment.

Day 115 at UNMC

Got my first sem results. Can't say I feel bad about it, but can't say I'm proud of it either. Just work harder on maths next time and pray in the future I don't get tangled with Imaginary Numbers.

Malaysian Studies. I'll say it again : Fucking Retarded.

"The amount of history you've studied is nothing compare to mine! I have a masters in it! Can you tell me the historical significance and implication of this treaty? No? Then be quite and learn!". I remember very clearly that I signed up for a BEng. Not a fucking BA. I don't want to learn this shit. Honest to God this is depressing, the entire Saturday is devoted to this when I can, oh I don't know, revise my ENGINEERING related modules.

Some of you think I might be extreme but come on, Heat Mass Transfer is raping me. Thermodynamics is not quite on the soft side either. Least not forget Process Fundamentals like it rough and hard. Oh yeah, Maths is there waiting too. Then there's the double teaming Modern Chem and Geology (Still don't know why this is here) ...

And know they expect me to take a Malaysian Studies with more memorizing~

All of my hate. Seriously.

Also, I've sent out letters to companies in hopes they hire this near 2nd upper student. I don't think my chances of getting an internship very high though ... Sigh ...

On the other hand, finally dished out the money I earned from HP by buying myself a Nokia C5-03. The jump from Nokia 1100 to Nokia C5-03 is amazingly not smooth. I might be good with comp and web but not with mobile phones though haha.

Till next time.

Calvin singing out.

Day 102 at UNMC

Hi all,

So I have been in this uni for more than 100 days now and all I can say is life goes on as normal. This being the third day of the second semester I must say the pressure is slowly seeping into my head. Really though, the realization that for the next two months and a half I will need to remember and cram all that amount of crap and spew it out in May is indeed horrifying. Ugh.

I find myself saddened by the fact that the chances of me picking up another language during my studies will be very slim. My Chem Eng timetable is both rigid and packed. If I want to take the language module it will be most likely in the morning (lectures) or in the afternoon (lab). Skipping anyone of these mean death.

And then there's Malaysian Studies. Fuck'em. Fuck the Higher Education Act. Why do you need Malaysian citizens, who are born and bred here, to take up such a retarded subject? Seriously? If anyone is to take up such a module the most obvious choice will be international students since most of them are not that familiar with THIS country. Argh. There goes my weekend.

Haiz, for the moment I think the second semester is a "little" bit more easier than the first. Hope I don't eat my words a few days later.

Till next time,

Calvin signing out.

Day 96 at UNMC

Hello friends,

Today is the last day of the year 4707 of the Chinese calender (lol). Christ that was hard. Kinda disappointed at my performance but the thing is I kinda hate it cause they designed it in such a way you can't fail the exam unless you're a retard or something. Well guess I have to see what's my result later at February to decide whether it's worth my time to continue this path.

Now with that shit off let's move on tho something else eh? I have two weeks of a 'semester break' before the next sem begins so ... What should I do now? Most likely just stay in the room and play some vidya and watch some animu on the plasma tv. Productive, I know ...

Well happy holidays my Notti friends~

Till next time~

Calvin signing out.

Day 76 at UNMC

Sup.

For the last 2+ weeks I had:
Marathoned Suzumiya Haruhi (TV+ Movie) series (Yuki ;_;)
Enjoyed a wonderful homemade Christmas dinner with relatives.
Spent the last day of 2010 and first day of 2011 in Jonker Street with family.

What I had NOT done:
Prepare myself for the coming (tomorrow) exam.

Shit, I mean I am only 60% ready man ...

Oh well life goes on. Alright it wasn't that bad. My group members are awesome and I had a blast through out the week. I mean I got an overall 78% score for it so I guess yeah~

Basically the week we are given 5 tasks to do, each related to one of the core modules we have learned. They are:
1. Fluid Mechanics -> Pipe flow design and calculation
2. Intro Chem -> Titration and calculation
3. Applied Chem and Physics -> Oil extraction
4. Process Engineering Fundamentals -> Pure calculation
5. Industrial Visit Presentation

I had fun in all the activities we have done and trust me when I say each member has a chance to shine during each activity. Our group is a well oiled machine and boy does it run at an efficient rate.

With all that behind I was bothered with the EMX audit report but need not to say more about it as the damn thing was finally submitted to the office.

So what now?

Well, the end of the semester is near that means ... EXAMS!~

Yeah~

( . _ .)

I can tell you that I'm totally not ready for it. But still life goes on.

Finished COD Black Ops after the assessment week and I can say ... I miss Infinity Ward ... Finished the damn game in 5 hours lol At least now I'm enjoying Fallout 3 though haha

Not much good games coming at this December though ... sad ...

Oh well ... I still have Fallout New Vegas and Mafia 2 in the HDD so 'till next time...

Calvin signing out.

Day 47 at UNMC

Assessment week~

Presentations, reports and mind fuckery ahoy~

Maths test fucking failed ahoy~

AHHHHH~

Ahoy~

'till next time~

Calvin signing out.

Day 40 at UNMC

Came back from AFA-X Singapore at Sunday.

Conclusion : JAM Project is Fuck Awesome

Seriously I can now die with no regrets.

Songs performed that made me berserk were Maxon, Rocks, Rescue Fire, Yuusha-oh Tanjou (Endoh solo), We Are (Kitadani solo), Makka na Chikai (Fukuyama solo), Cha-la Head Cha-la (Kageyama solo) and of course Skill.

The reunion performance of Hagane no Messiah with Aniki was a pleasant surprise. Just slightly dissapointed with the lack of GONG.

Aniki's segment was quite ok since I only know the segments from the mech anime and tokusatsus. (Fuck yeah Kamen Rider and Mazinger!)

Overall the trip itself has its bumps (unsmooth planning) but still it was ok. Got myself to meet a few bros and of course that is always awesome. Hell, I managed to get myself a silly overpriced t-shirt as a reminder. (Retarded AFA-kun is retarded)

My only biggest regret was not taking photos with the Mathroska cosplayers (Reference) . They look great in the outfit.

Well then back to Earth now shall we?

Finished the Maths coursework just yesterday and today was given another coursework in EMX. Fuck.

ああ！！吐きそうだ！！！

At this rate I won't have time to do revision on fluids and most importantly PEF. And best still the Maths test is next week and the deadline of the EMX is 2 weeks later from now. Double Fuck.

Oh well, managed visit TOPGLOVE factory this Tuesday. The people there are great. In addition of learning the process of making wonderful latex gloves we were given a free meal. Albeit some of us got toooo excited about the free meal. Sheesh.

Now thanks to EMX I will now have to learn on how to make an audit report which in all seriousness ... I don't really wanna do cuz it kinda spoils the weekend for you. Nope.

All I have done so far is really nothing.

Except of course the Environmental Management technical report. At least I know how to write a report and apply for ISO140001 certification.

You know, just when you finished one coursework another one pops out of nowhere. Now I hate engineering mathematics more than fluids. And that speaks a lot.

So what am I doing now?
1. Get ready to go to Singapore for JAM PROJECT
2. Finish maths coursework
3. Finish tutorials
4. Today is the day I had lab work, which was quite ok if a bit tad boring. I mean you can't get that excited about measuring viscosity right?

Anyways, what have I been doing for the past week. The same old same old.

Wake up, drive to uni, lectures, drive home, lunch, something something, sleep then rinse and repeat. To tell you the truth I'm quite bored with this routine but not to say I'm bored with the course. I mean I find the stuff they teach there quite ok it's just I kinda wish I had more people to talk to and interact with. Yeah I know the problem lies with my inability to socialize but ya kinda like that when your course is taught in the same lecture hall for the entire semester and you stay way off-campus.

Hopefully I'll be able to get more friends by joining this Nottingham ANIMAS. (I swear I would look back at this post in the future and I will either not regret this decision or give myself a big facepalm.)

Not much to say though. Just Eng. Maths gives you the headaches, PEF gives you the migranes and Fluid Mechanics give you the stroke. If you want me to talk about girls then I'm afraid for the time being I'm unable to spew emo poetry about it since there is no target or whatsoever in my sights. Sigh. I swear without the internet I'd an hero sooner or later.

Everyday things to do on Internet list:
Mafiawars
Niconico

Anime watching list:
P&S with Garterbelt
Ika Musume
and the rest of the 1TB stuff ...

Gaming list:
Civilisation V
Mass Effect
Victoria 2

How to study?

Calvin signing out.

Day 8 at UNMC

So has already been a week since I got myself enrolled into the university and I have to say, life at the faculty of engineering is quite boring at the moment. But I noticed that I will take back my words in a few weeks time when the assignments and lab work starts to roll in.

So how was the week?

Well, met my tutor aka guardian Dr Dominic last Tuesday and I must say he is a great guy to talk to and I think we will do just fine. So what about the lectures for the other modules? Well :

Dr Sara's Environmental Management module is a bit unique since the module, as I much as I can see for now, is all theory so it is a bit tad boring but at least in her class we have lots of discussions on current environmental issues so that's fine.

Dr Chin's Applied Chemistry and Physics module is ... well ... I think I can describe it as familiar. What do I mean by that? Well what I want to say is that his teaching style is very familiar to a person that once taught me. Then out of nowhere he said he took A Lvls at TAR College. Hah. Could he be taught by the great Mr. Siva? Who knows? haha.

Dr Lee's Process Engineering Fundamentals. Important subject. Will try ever best to understand lecture seeing my tutor said this is one of the killer subjects that killed a lot of students.

Dr Feroz's Introductory Chemistry module so far so is the same as the beginner stuff we learned at Pre-U but instincts tell me the difficulty will soon kick up a good notch as we go later in the course.

Dr Edward's Engineering Mathematics 1 is ok. Just need to dig back Pre-U maths to get back to my own feet. Starts to miss Ms. Melissa's style of lecture d.

Dr Sergey's Fluid Mechanics. Russian lecturer teaching you fluid mechanics. It's ok. I just wanna know who made the subject so damn complicated. It's just fluids man, why so complex...

Anyways,

Missed the ice-breaking events since turn out rate is low ... ( . _.) But instead spend too much time at the CC haha. But still so far so good. I can understand the lectures but the example questions are a bit tough ...

Doesn't help my studies if I am still gaming and marathoning anime heh? Curse you Civilization V and other anime stuff.

But hopefully I can make it through another 7 days at the Uni. Till next time then!

Calvin signing out.

Day 1 at UNMC

Quite a shock to see that my last post was made during CNY and that was like, what, more than seven months ago? Damn I'm lazy. Well to make it short, I had a short stint at Hewlett-Packard for 3 months, slack off for another 3 months and somehow got myself enrolled to University of Nottingham (Malaysian Campus).

Day 1
Arrival
Parked at staff parking.
Only realized the mistake when I saw people more elder then me coming out of the cars.
What was I thinking zzz ...

Class 1
Fluid Mechanics by Mr Sergey Spotar.
Slightly overwhelmed by his Russian accent.
But then realized course will be not boring if I visualized Mr Sergey as Heavy.

Class 2
Engineering Mathematics 1 by Mr Edward Ho.
At first, Cartesian plane haha ok your kidding me ...
but then, Complex Numbers !!!
NoNoNoNo!!!

And then the day was basically over since there are no lab work to do for the time being.

Met Keshav and Vee and formed our little group. Somehow there are things going in my head. Maybe I have been playing to much Civilization V already. Must spread sphere of influence of tiny growing civilization!

Since the two kindly declined to join the icebreaking event held by the SA I went ahead and spent some time exploring the library and then later the at Central Computing (CC haha!). Speed tested was 12MBps. *Fangasms

And then there was the jam home.

Good lord that traffic jam along the way home was awful no thanks to the downpour.

Sigh.

Now I'm here getting ready for tomorrow to meet my personal trai- I mean tutor.

Hope I'll level up soon, till tomorrow.

Calvin signing out.

Happy CNY

<img style="display: block; And that really was a ritual of destruction. I threw away a lot of them Cambridge A-Level tutorials and notes. Its' not like I'm gonna need them anyway. Haha.

Oh and also them dust bunnies.

The horror.

THE HORROR!!!

But I still have some of them finky text books. Anyone out there want a 2nd hand Biology, Chemistry and Physics text book? I can sell them for you at a very low price! Buy now and receive complementary photocopies of Mathematics text books !! It's a steal!!! CALL NOW AT ... Almost let the salesperson in me took over. Hahaha. Just leave a comment if anyone is interested.

Today I went back to TARC to get my A2 result slip and also to get my other documents to be certified by the office. Talked with a few lecturers particularly with Ms. Geraldline and Ms. Jeswyna. You think being in the college for one and a half year you would remember how to spell their names. Sorry bout that!

When I went to Ms. Hwang to get my papers certified I was told that due to the large amount of papers needed to be sorted (160 total!) she is not able to process them all at that time because she had an appointment. So she directed me to Mr. Low.

Ahh good ol' Mr Low. At first I kinda pity him since he has to certify all my stuff but he gave me his chop and looked at me. When I looked back with a "wut?" face he said to me: Start chopping and make it fast. Till now as I am typing this blog entry I still can feel a little pain in my index finger.

Now that I have certified documents in hand I can finally go and apply for admission into universities. Might as well go to the post office tomorrow and start mailing! Till next time!

Calvin signing out.

Starlight Road

"Good day dear readers. I am Starscream."

It seems like the Decepticons have took over my blog and all posts were deleted. OK I lied about that but what happened? Well ... I would like to start again. "Nothing seems to go on in this blog ... " a friend of mine once said and I agree. This shows how "dedicated" I am towards even to my own blog. Actually, after completing Cambridge A-Levels (CAL) my life has been the same really. Now that I have received my results for both CAL and IELTS, I'm ready for bigger things.

University.

But I digress, we will get back to university later. I feel I should go back to blogging. The main idea when starting this blog up was post things that are in less quantity, but more quality. If there were any readers out there (HaHa!) I can be frank and say my posts are more of rants than good ol' blog posts and they are all crap. But what can you post when your life is in a cycle? Not much I guess. I bet that some would be interested in reading the life of a NEET (Google it). But I think if you post the same things you do every day I bet anyone would get bored.

Well to get things started ... I have decided to post even more less in this blog. Madness? Nay I say. I've instead decided to post more in the other blog. This blog as it was intended was created for normal life postings. With a life like mine ... guess there is not much stuff eh? On the other hand ... I have much things to post on anime, manga and games. Not in the sense that I have info on these things like Kotaku or Sankaku (Yes I am trolling) but more of a personal reflection on such media.

Now with that sort out (HaHa!!), with CAL and IELTS results in my hand I must say it is time to select a university to further my studies. Singapore is a definite 1st choice of mine. With applications for Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS) sent, all I need is to send my copies of my result slip and pray for admittance into the courses I have choose.

The other choices would lie in the antipodes. 2nd choice is New Zealand and 3rd choice in Australia. I'm not sure why but while I'm at it might as just throw in an application or two to Hong Kong just to try my luck. There is always a plan for worst case scenarios though. In case that all applications to foreign universities (very unlikely) are rejected there is always local universities. Not public though ... No no no ... No STPM and Muet = No public university for you. Private ones like UCSI and that kind of sort.

Now all I have to do is make a lot of photocopies of my result and get them certified at TAR college this coming Monday. Then applications ahoy!!!

To all of those in the SN9 batch I'm sure all of you got good results and certainly can get a spot in a good university or college or anything else. Good luck to all of you!!

Calvin signing out.
